Another Semester#11

Dec 3, 2015
Were all done!

The semester is done and so is all the blogging, finally. I will say that this semester with the blogging felt different. I felt more compelled to put more in to it then just quick little things I like. I had to dig and look up and keep on with keeping the audience (yes you wonderful readers you) interested. So I guess I could say I did enjoy blogging a bit more than last semester. Will I pick this up on my free time, No, but that is also because I have no free time.

I feel like the benefits to all this blogging is I was able to express myself as if I was writing in a diary. Not really thinking or caring about who would read it or how they would respond. It was just me writing and was able to improve my writing as I went through every blog.

The challenges for this semester was how many self generated entry's we needed I am so busy with school, work, paper's and Christmas thinking of something that is somewhat professional for me to speak about is not the easiest thing to do.

Learning there is definitely differences in writing. I would look at other blogs and I just could never respond or just look at some of the picture because there was not a lot there to read and I was not able to be engaging. I hope with questions, video's and seeking other opinions really was able to get people to just think.

I feel like I learned a lot more about rhetoric and engaging an audience, when it came to this blogging. I was trying to be professional but still appeal to the "college" life. I am much older then many of my class mates so I did not want to dumb down but I did want to relate to certain situations.

I believe blogging along with some of the assignments is harder because if you are already writing about the media and have to do so much on that, when writing a quick blog it can get hard to cut out so much when you have all the info.

I believe that blogging helped with the class and breaking the ice for many of the classmates, because when it comes to grading many are afraid to say or do anything. So when it came to a blog we were able to relate, break wall and help each other think of ideas and papers.

Hope all of you have a great end of the semester and continue on with college with at least some ease it can't always be easy. You can do it.

Donations #10

Giving Back. . .

With the Christmas season right around the corner tons of people including myself are stressing about money and what presents to give to their loved ones. Thinking about all the things they have to do and what they will be getting in return instead of what the meaning of giving back really is.

Every years hundreds of people give to charities if it is Toys of Tots, the Christmas Angles, or even donating their time to volunteer. No matter what it is many people take this time to really give back and it is wonderful that they do but what about the rest of the year.

I personally have volunteered with Hospice of the Valley, Giving time with different soup kitchens, donated clothes, laundry soap, toothbrushes, and many other little things to the woman's shelters. Made sure to sit, read, talk and just listen to people in assisted living homes. Donated money and cards to orphanages. I am not saying I am better then anyone and I am not trying to get a pat on the back, I am saying all of these different things because of the wonderful feelings I received that I could make a difference by just giving an hour out of my day, giving unneeded and unworn clothes to someone who really could use it. This is all year around and is always in need someone just needs to take the initiative to do these things.

I believe that if more people are taught at a young age to give back and to help out this world would be less cruel, and just plain mean. People would not always expect something back except the feeling that one gets knowing you did something good and right for someone who is in need.

Teaching kids to share and give is always a good thing but how many kids really know to fully give some thing even if it time. I personally teach my children that they need to give to up things so others can enjoy it just as much as they have. Once they are older I will be making them volunteer their time with what ever it they choose but they will find out the struggle others have. I also hope with time and experience that they will realize that Some times Giving Back is all that is needed to make another persons day, week, situation so much better then what it has been.

I guess my challenge for many is to just look in to this concept of Giving back what can it really hurt beside your face from all the smiling you will be doing.

MEDIA #9

Dec 3, 2015
How the Media is Effecting You?

To many people think media is part of their life so it is a everyday thing that they do not even think of it, like breathing or getting out of bed. It is just there and it will never go away it just gets faster and better. How many of these people do not have any realization of what these different media's are doing to them physically, mentally and emotionally.

Kids today can not live without their phone, kindle, tablet, or what ever the parents give them to stimulate them. Children are rarely outside playing, and just being kids. In today society parents immediately give their screaming child their phone to watch video's or play games while they are finishing shopping or waiting for an appointment. What ever happening to book's, crayons, paper and pen or just playing a simple game like patty cake or a guessing game?

Teenagers, god forbid, they go a day without web, or their phones. You can not turn your head right or left without seeing a teen walking with their eyes glued to their phones. They don't even talk to each other when they are in the same room they are usually texting or on Facebook, Tweeter or Snap Chat. What happened to teens going to the mall, talking about the opposite sex, and trying to impress each other. Now it is about taking the best video of the fight outside, or who has the sexiest picture. Why are teens no longer teens but are camera crews to the world around them instead of living it in the now?
This is normal for teens, kids, and entire families they are all in the same room but no one is talking.

Adults are no better how many have to have the News on while getting ready for work. They work and take care of business but how much of that work is in front of a screen or on the phone. Many are attempting to text, shop, look up a schedule, or make plans while driving through heavy traffic. Just to spare some time in the day that they seem to not have. When it comes to the end of the night after spending hours awake and getting things done people get ready to climb in to bed and then have to check that one email, that social media post. Where is the sleep they so desperately need and always complain about?

If there was a day just one day that electronics did not work how would people react? What kind of madness would be unleashed. How many people would break down and cry thinking their life would be over. How would parents deal with their children?

This is just a little thing that technology has created to help bring back the family and get people to put down the electronics. So maybe it is just for dinner but this can be used for so many other times and really bring people back to this world.

I know I personally love to take everything away and kick the kids out and have us all do something from riding our bikes to going to a museum. Any little thing to get them to see the word around them and not to be stuck to a screen. I have had technology taken away from me for weeks to months at a time and I will say it is the best thing ever I do not worry about what other's think a or what is really going on. I am able to take care of myself and the things I need to get better and to move forward. I know even to this date when technology was forcibly taken away it was the best thing and I will continue to take breaks it might only be for a day but I know I and many other's still need that break.

Taking on to much #8

Dec 1, 2015
Taking on to Much!

Ever sense I can remember I have been working and keeping busy. I know I take on more then I should but I do not see why I can not do it until it is to late. Then I usually have a break down or I mess something us royally. But, I never give up and I never accept defeat.

Time and time again I have seen men, women, people do so much and they never think anything of it. From working two to three jobs, paying all the bill, making sure their children have everything they need these people never stop to think of themselves or is it taking on to much.

College students: many if them have jobs they must have to support themselves while attending school, so they have to manage, work, school, bills, and any extra actives if they choose to take them. Some can handle and manage all of it but some struggle but many do not quit and if they do later on very much so regret it.
Children especially teens are dealing with much more then what should really be put on them. Of course they have to deal with all the physical changes that are happening to them but what about all the outside factors. Going to school, being popular, playing sports, having good grades, attracting that special someones attention. Then lets hope they have it good at home because if not it does land on the kids and now they have to handle so much more emotionally. Where does it stop, when does it become to much?

Right now for me everything seems to be so much harder. I know with holidays, school finals, work, family and having a baby on the way, I really should not take on to much. But I really don't know when to quit or when to stop taking on so much extra. I will never give up and I can't. It is one of those things that I just do not believe in.

I will say, we the students are right at the end of this semester, two weeks left tops, and I really hate to see so many students give up. Stressed out and feel that they have just taken on to much. I just wish they could see that they can do it, they just can not give up they are so close and I am right there with them.

DEMB MEN #7

Dec 1, 2015
Dumb Men

Have you see this? If not you got to, this entire website is hilarious in the fact it makes fun of men but at the same time it is all true. I am not saying men are dumb all the time or they are inferior to women but when they do do dumb stuff it is really dumb and you just have to question how you even know that person.

As I looked at a lot of these little video's I could not help to think back to my military day. I was surrounded by men all the time who would do stupid things all the time. They would purposely lay in a giant ant pile to see who could last the longest and that was just in basic training. Then when in stationed over seas of course they would get bored and find really really "funny" things to do.

Yes we really do this because we were that bored. And yes all great ideas came from men.

Then when watching all of these video's I think of my wonderful husband he works construction and him and all his boys have very special moments that I just have to cover my face, laugh, and shake my head because I see all of these men as family.

Yes I have see all these things in person as well as I get all the horror stories when my husband and I sit and talk about our days and the end of the day.

Again I am not say all men are dumb, I am not saying they are stupid, but I am saying they have some seriously dumb ideas and most of the time they go through with these idea's. I know if I am not there to control my man's behavior he and the children get in to some serious trouble and I have to clean it up.
